UPDATE (4 p.m.): The man found dead in the river this morning is a 37-year-old Texas man whose identity has not been released. He was hiking to a cabin with his brother when they became separated Thursday night and the man never made it back to the cabin. His body was discovered by fishermen this morning. LARIMER COUNTY — Authorities found a body Friday morning in the Big Thompson River southwest of Drake.
David Moore with the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office said deputies and emergency personnel responded to US Highway 34 between mile markers 70 and 71 after receiving a report of a hiker who got separated from his group and was missing.
Moore said authorities discovered a deceased male in the Big Thompson River. They do not know if the man was the missing hiker.
