ADAMS COUNTY, Colo. — Crews are battling a large fire in unincorporated Adams County near Commerce City.
Thick, heavy smoke can be seen for several miles above where the fire started near 78th Avenue and York Street, just west of Interstate 76.
According to an Adams County Fire tweet, garages and sheds were fully involved when firefighters arrived, but crews were able to the get the blaze under control around 3:30 p.m.
The fire appeared to have started on a vast stretch of farm land in rural Adams County containing abandoned homes and machinery. No injuries were reported.
It's unclear how the fire started. An investigation is ongoing.
No other details were immediately available.
