DENVER – A Jefferson County jury found a man guilty of sex crimes involving five women inside his van and RV in Lakewood off of West Colfax in 2018 and 2019.

Darrell Eugene Wall, 50, was found guilty by the jury of two counts of sexual assault, one count of unlawful sexual contact with force and two counts of unlawful sexual conduct on Oct. 29, according to the First Judicial District Attorney’s Office.

When police arrested Wall last December in Fort Collins, they said he was a suspected “serial rapist” and was targeting primarily unhoused women and women with mental health, drug or alcohol issues along West Colfax in Lakewood.

According to police reports, Wall would often lure the women into his van or RV and would typically assault them when they were intoxicated or asleep. But one of his victims was able to identify him when police asked, and additional women came forward after his arrest to say they had been victimized by Wall between June 2018 and November 2019.

Prosecutors said the five women whom Wall was convicted of assaulting were all “loosely acquainted” with Wall and met him near West Colfax.

“Wall preyed on the vulnerability of these women who were struggling to get by,” said First Judicial District Attorney Pete Weir. “They showed great courage as they each took the stand and testified about what had happened to them, allowing us to hold Mr. Wall accountable and stop these assaults on women in the future.”

Wall is currently scheduled to be sentenced on Jan. 7, 2021.
