ASPEN, Colo. — Remember John Denver’s 1971 lyrics, “It's a long way home to Starwood in Aspen, a sweet Rocky Mountain paradise”? That paradise home is on the market.
The John Denver Estate in Starwood, which Denver built in 1972 after his first big hits, is now for sale for $11 million. The project became a refuge for the singer.
The home is close to town and four ski mountains. It is currently owned by longtime Aspen locals, who have preserved the legacy and uniqueness of the home, while also updating it with modern features. They bought the home for $2.75 million in December 2016. At that point, it hadn’t been remodeled since 1985.
The home has five bedrooms, five bathrooms, two half-baths, an art studio and office room, three wet bars, a four-car garage, a swimming pool, multiple water features, a fire pit and lounge area, viewing platform, two laundry rooms and more. In total, it is 7,735 square feet.
