DENVER – Police have arrested the driver of an SUV who is accused of striking a Colorado Department of Transportation employee in northwest Denver on Friday morning.

She faces charges of careless driving resulting in injury of a vulnerable road user, a red light violation and leaving the scene of a crash, police said. Her name hasn't been released yet.

The Explorer was seen heading south from the crash, which happened about 10:30 a.m. at West 48th Avenue and Sheridan Boulevard, police said.

The victim was seriously injured and was still in the hospital Friday afternoon, according to CDOT.
