COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The delayed roar that follows the gravity-defying stunts of the Thunderbirds will be echoing across Front Range this week as the pilots practice for Wednesday’s flyover.
The flying unit of the U.S. Air Force will fly over graduation ceremonies at the Air Force Academy Wednesday sometime after noon. The performance should last 30 minutes.
But before Wednesday’s show, Thunderbird pilots will be practicing over Falcon Stadium Tuesday for about an hour starting at 11 a.m.
While the general public may not be allowed in the area to view the show -- certain roads will be closed during this time -- there are ways you can safely take in the aerial stunts.
Stopping along Interstate 25 is not an option, but the Western Museum of Mining and Industry is inviting the public to view the airshow from the museum’s property.
The museum is located at 225 North Gate Boulevard, just off exit 156 on I-25. The view should be pretty good, based on photos posted on its Facebook page.
