DENVER –A once-ubiquitous mall tenant has now all but disappeared completely from the retail landscape. RadioShack shuttered more than 1,000 locations after filing for bankruptcy for a second time in March.
But the struggling electronics retailers is not dead yet. The retailer decided to keep 70 company-owned locations open. And some of those stores are here in Colorado.
Here are the five Colorado locations that are still open, according to InvestorPlace:
Aurora – 694 Peoria Street
Denver -16th Street Mall
Boulder – Marshall Plaza
Golden - 17211 S Golden Rd
Colorado Springs - Southgate
RadioShack was founded in 1921. Long known as the place to find batteries and obscure electronic parts, in recent years the company tried to remake itself as a specialist in wireless devices and accessories.
That strategy largely was stymied by the advent of smartphones.
RadioShack has tried to update its image but faces formidable competition from online and discount retailers.
