UPDATE | Thursday, 11:54 a.m. — The man shot by police in Glendale on Friday evening has died and was identified by the medical examiner as John Pacheaco Jr., 36. According to an autopsy, the cause of death was multiple gunshot wounds and the manner of death was ruled a homicide.
GLENDALE, Colo. — A man reportedly unresponsive in a pickup truck near a busy intersection in Glendale was critically wounded after he was shot by police during a confrontation.
Around 10 p.m. Saturday, Glendale officers were making contact with the unresponsive man near the intersection of Colorado Boulevard and Alameda Avenue when the confrontation occurred, police said.
At some point during the confrontation, police opened fire, striking the man, who is described by police as a white male in his 20s.
After the shooting, police said the man put his truck in reverse and rammed a Glendale police vehicle. The man, whose name has not been released, was transported to Denver Health in critical condition.
Outside agencies, including the Denver Police Department, are investigating the shooting.
