A woman in Colorado Springs accidentally shot her boyfriend while trying to stop one dog from attacking another, police said.
It happened Monday night in a house on Hoosier Drive, according to the Colorado Springs Police Department.
Investigators say the homeowners have multiple dogs and some were known to be aggressive.
The woman shot the aggressive dog and also hit her boyfriend in the leg, police said.
The dog died.
The man was treated at Penrose St. Francis Medical Center for "relatively minor injuries," investigators said.
The woman was charged with reckless endangerment.
The Humane Society is investigating the death of the dog.
