LAFAYETTE, Colo. – A woman faces charges after she allegedly hit and killed a 2-year-old girl in a Lafayette parking lot Sunday evening.

Blanca Cecilia Sandoval, 44, faces a careless driving causing death charge – a class 1 misdemeanor traffic offense – in the incident.

She was driving a car in the parking lot near Justice High School around 6:40 p.m. Sunday and collided with an SUV parked nearby.

Lafayette police say they 2-year-old girl was “near” the SUV during the crash, and received traumatic injuries. She was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital and later died, police say.

The police department says Sandoval was not impaired at the time of the crash and is cooperating with investigators.
