CENTENNIAL, Colo. -- If you think you're just going to run inside quickly and leave your purse in the car, think again.

That's the warning from the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office.

Investigators say the Felony Lane Gang is back in Arapahoe County, and they are investigating several potentially-connected crimes.

Lori Kaupp says she was dropping of her daughter at a Centennial daycare center in July when the thieves broke into her locked car.

"They shoved something into the keyhole and broke off part of the door handle," said Kaupp. "Somehow that disabled the alarm. I was gone five minutes. That's how quick it was."

By the time she got back, the thieves had taken off with her purse and checkbook.

Arapahoe County released photos of the woman wanted in connection with trying to cash the checks at local banks, and Kaupp has a warning for women.

"Obviously, as we all know, don't leave your purse in your car and really pay attention to your surroundings," said Kaupp.

The Felony Lane Gang has been operating for years nationally, getting its name because members use the far lane in bank drive-thrus so that the teller can't see them as well.

"We don't know if they're all connected, but we know it's the same M.O.," said Julie Brooks, a spokeswoman with the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office. "They break into cars, steal checkbooks and cash checks at banks using stolen ID's they got from other cars. They are very organized."
