GOLDEN, Colo. -- Need some help with your finances? Making sure your teenager drives safely? Keeping your elderly parents safe?

The Jefferson County District Attorney’s 9th annual Safety Fair is on Saturday, Aug. 26, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds, 15200 West Sixth Ave., in Golden.

An estimated 3,500 adults, children and seniors came to the 2016 fair to enjoy the interactive outdoor exhibits, safety demonstrations and kids’ activities.

This year there will be more than 85 booths offering crime prevention tips, giveaways, demonstrations and valuable safety information for the entire family.

Some of the free offerings include:

  • Document shredding – 5 box limit
  • Prescription roundup
  • CHEEZO with cellphone and online safety for kids
  • 911 cell phones for seniors
  • Bicycle rodeo for kids

The D.A.'s office encourages people to bring in old cell phones, which will be wiped of their information, and donated as 911 phones. The phones are given free to senior citizens.
