SAN DIEGO -- The founder of a Denver-based yoga studio that has exploded in popularity was found dead Monday in his San Diego Home, police and the company confirmed.

Telluride native Trevor Tice's death is being investigated as a suspicious incident, according to the San Diego Union Tribune, which spoke with San Diego homicide investigators.

Police responded to his home, which records show he purchased for $3 million in January, after being asked to perform a wellness check by a friend.

Authorities only released the identity, acknowledging Tice had died, on Tuesday.

CorePower Yoga confirmed the death on their social media platforms, saying "We are deeply saddened to confirm that our CorePower Yoga founder, Trevor Tice, passed away on Monday, Dec. 12, 2016."

The release went on to describe Tice as a person with, "boundless energy, an electric smile, an immutable desire to improve."

Tice's style of yoga has been described as intensely physical exercise that works every muscle.

CorePower Yoga has over 160 studios in 21 states. Tice was not acting as CEO at the time of his death.
