CENTENNIAL, Colo. — A 24-year-old former Spanish teacher for Arapahoe High School has pleaded guilty to attempted sexual assault on a child.

Sarah Elise Porter took a plea agreement, according to Vikki Migoya with the 18th District Attorney’s Office. She pleaded guilty to attempted sex assault on a child by one in a position of trust, which is a class 5 felony. The other charge against her — sexual exploitation of children/pornography/obscene material — was dismissed.

She was sentenced to 10 years of Sex Offenders Intensive Supervised Probation, plus 90 days in jail. She may have to register as a sex offender as well, Migoya said.

Porter was formally charged in March. She had taught Spanish at the high school since August and had worked as an assistant volleyball coach in the fall and assistant track coach in the weeks leading up to the filing of charges.

Through Safe2Tell, school administration learned of an allegation that Porter had assaulted a 16-year-old student, according to the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office.
