PARKER, Colo. – A former security guard at a Douglas County high school has been sentenced to prison for sexually assaulting a student.

Gary Postell, 51, was sentenced Friday to eight years in prison after pleading guilty to a charge of child abuse negligently causing serious bodily injury. He also will spend 10 years on sex offender intensive supervised probation on a charge of sexual exploitation of a child. Other charges against Postell were dropped as part of a plea deal.

Postell was a campus security specialist at Ponderosa High School in Parker. He was arrested at his home in Castle Rock in November 2016.
