DENVER (AP) — Two Colorado men accused of cheating customers who had hired them to build custom food trucks have been ordered to pay back millions of dollars.
The Denver Post reported Thursday a Denver District Court judge ordered Larry Perez to pay $3 million and Rudy Martinez to pay $1.5 million.
The owners of Denver Custom Food Trucks and Brothers Custom Foods Trucks have been also permanently barred from participating in the state's food truck industry.
State officials say the two took deposits from customers and often delivered trucks later than promised and delivered faulty trucks.
Officials say they failed to deliver a truck at all in some cases.
Officials say the money will be directed to the people who were ripped off.
