PUEBLO, Colo. (AP) — A former Colorado deputy accused of stealing silver ingots, a turquoise bracelet and silver dollar coins from a crime scene has pleaded guilty.

The Pueblo Chieftain reports 30-year-old Christopher Pape pleaded guilty Monday in Fremont County District Court to charges of theft, first-degree official misconduct and tampering with physical evidence.

The former Fremont County Sheriff's deputy assisted with an investigation into the death of 76-year-old Kenneth Orchard at his home outside Canon City in late May.

Authorities say Pape stole nearly $6,000 in items from the property.

The plea agreement calls for Pape to pay about $5,900 in restitution to the victim's wife Lureen Orchard.

Pape is scheduled to be sentenced in October.
