DENVER -- Good morning! Here’s what you need to know today, Friday, March 30, 2018.

1. It's a First Alert Action Day
We're off to a mild start this morning but temperatures will continue to drop and rain and snow will develop by late morning. Highs today will likely only reach into the high 30s around Denver.

2. Rockies' home opener is this afternoon
That weather could have an impact on today's home opener at Coors Field. The Rockies are set to take on the Atlanta Braves at 2:10 p.m.

3. Boulder moving forward with assault weapon ban
More than 150 people signed up to talk at a hearing in Boulder last night on a proposed ban on so-called "assault" weapons, bump stocks and high-capacity magazines. Councilors voted unanimously in favor of the ban but this was just a first vote and the ban is not a done deal yet.

4. Surgeries canceled at Porter Adventist
Porter Adventist Hospital is canceling most surgeries Friday, a day after it warned people of a breach in the sterilization process of medical instruments used for certain surgeries over the past two years. The hospital said it decided to cancel surgeries after noticing a potential change in water quality.

5. Jobs report coming out today
How did the nation's job market do in March? We'll find out when the monthly jobs report comes out later this morning.
