ASPEN, Colo. (AP) — A wildfire that destroyed three homes and scorched nearly 20 square miles (52 square kilometers) in western Colorado is fully contained.

The Aspen Daily News reported Tuesday that recent cold weather, rain and snow helped crews get a handle on the Lake Christine Fire, which started at a shooting range in Basalt on July 3.

Containment had been sitting at above 90 percent since August as remnants of the fire continued to burn in inaccessible areas on the backside of Basalt Mountain.

Two people were charged with fourth-degree arson after investigators say they fired incendiary tracer rounds at the shooting range, igniting the fire.
