Supporting one's country in the NFL could be a costly measure. The NFL promised again over the weekend to slap fines on any players who break uniform protocol.

Several players, including Avery Williamson of the Tennessee Titans announced his plans early, then said he may have to back down due to potential fines.

However upon Sunday's game, Williamson appeared in bright red, white and blue shoes with "Never Forget" in bold face on the heel.

Williamson was joined by at least six other players, including Victor Cruz, Odell Beckham Jr., Brian Cushing, Pat McAfee, Mohamed Sanu and Julio Jones.

Each could face fines of at least $5,000 -- the minimum penalty for a first time uniform infraction in the NFL.

A number of groups expressed outrage after the NFL said they would enforce their rule, even on 9/11, when first responders and military are remembered and honored as heroes.

It's still unclear if the NFL will truly enforce their rules and levy fines against the players.
