LOVELAND, Colo. -- The family of an RTD security officer who was shot and killed on the job is struggling seven months later.

Shellie, the wife of Scott Von Lanken, says the Loveland family is just trying to figure out life day-by-day.

Lanken was gunned down near 16th and Wynkoop in downtown Denver the evening of Jan. 31.

“Just over seven months. It’s been a nightmare for the girls and I, but we’re getting stronger every month,” Shellie said.

Shellie says things have been harder trying to make ends meet. An eviction notice is plastered on the family’s front door.

“Our landlord asked us yesterday if we would be out in six weeks. It was really just a hard hit for us, because we don’t really know where we’re going to go,” she said.

She’s been getting help from her neighbors in this time of need, but she still doesn’t know where to go from here.

“We really just need to find a new place live,” Shellie said.

Her landlord says she will be able to live month-to-month for now, but the family will need to be completely moved out of the house by December.

A GoFundMe account has been set up on behalf of the family.
