DENVER – Although the nearest ocean to Colorado is nearly 1,000 miles away, there are several sandy beaches in the state to escape the sweltering heat.

And while you won’t get the ocean beach experience, you’ll often be treated to some breathtaking views of the Rocky Mountains while you soak up the sun.

Here are some of the best swimming beaches in Colorado.

Boulder Reservoir

Jackson Lake State Park

Grand Lake

Ridgeway State Park

Chatfield State Park
