DENVER -- Members of the Epworth Foundation in Denver say they are in dire need of funding to help feed families in need this Thanksgiving.
The foundation that runs the Daddy Bruce Randolph Thanksgiving meal distribution said that they are still short $100,000 in donations for this year.
Members are calling on the community to lend a hand or they will have to cut the number of baskets they give out.
More than 5,600 people applied for the free Thanksgiving meal this year. Foundation members say demand is up, but donations are down. Several local food pantries nearby have already closed, and seniors and community members in need are counting on help this holiday.
That includes Cinthyia Davila and her family.
"Sometimes only working for paying rent and utilities, it's hard when you don't have the income to buy something to celebrate something that's important like Thanksgiving," she said.
If the money isn't raised by Thursday Nov. 17, some families in need may not get a Thanksgiving dinner.

The foundation is also looking for volunteers to help out on Saturday November 19 with packing the meals and distributing them.
