LITTLETON, Colo. — A former employee of a Littleton repair business contacted police after he said he received a threatening text message when questioned about payment.
After a reference from his friend, a man decided to work for MCG Repairs in Littleton.
"We were focusing a lot on construction jobs, i.e. building decks, patios," said the former employee, who agreed to speak with Denver7 on the condition he not be named.
Online, MCG Repairs has good reviews. But this former employee says the owner, Matt Gilley, treated some of his employees differently.
"He was unable to pay us our full wages or he wouldn't pay us at all. And then, after that, (when he) was questioned about where pay was or how can I get paid on time, it was responded with negativity."
Working with the company for less than a month, the former worker texted Gilley, asking for answers over not getting paid last Friday.
The text read in part: "I expect pay by Monday. Square up what you owe me, and I'll come back to helping when I can. Principles brother."
Gilley's response: "That’s not the deal here’s the deal. The next time you f****** see me you better hope that I don’t see you I’m going to stomp your f****** puke little [head] and do the godd—n f****** Derek you don’t f—k with guys like me and you’re about to die."
The worker filed a report with the Littleton Police Department.
Denver7 reached out to Gilley.
Gilley initially said no employee was owed any money. He later said workers hadn't gotten paid because the job wasn't done.
He said even though the quality of their work was poor, they'd get paid when the work is completed. Gilley said employees are scamming him.
The former worker says Littleton police have advised both men to not contact each other.
