Eastbound I-70 reopens at Eisenhower Tunnel after multiple accidents

With a storm blowing into Colorado, several accidents forced Eastbound Interstate 70 to close for about 90 minutes Monday afternoon.

Colorado Department of Transportation cameras showed some snowy conditions during the closure, especially on the west side of the tunnels.

CDOT says there were several accidents near mile marker 222, in Bakerville. Silverthorne, where traffic was temporarily being halted, is at mile marker 205.

In addition to the closure, CDOT announced the activation of the Traction Law between Silverthorne and Georgetown. That means chains are required for all commercial vehicles and snow tires or alternative traction devices are required for other vehicles.
