DENVER — Over the past 12 hours, Denver police responded to multiple stabbings and shootings in the city, including one that left a person dead.
Around 9:07 p.m. Wednesday, the Denver Police Department said officers were in the area of 1300 N. Federal Boulevard after the department received a report of a stabbing. One man was transported to a hospital with serious injuries. Police said the stabbing happened near a RTD light rail stop.
A few minutes later, police tweeted that they were also at the scene of another stabbing, this one along the 8300 block of E. Colfax Ave. A man with injuries that were not life-threatening was transported to the hospital, police said.
Around 2:30 a.m. Thursday, police said they were responding to a shooting near 4800 N. Clarkson Street. One man had been shot several times and was seriously injured. He was taken to a local hospital. Another man was detained in connection to the shooting. Police said the man who was shot is expected to survive.
Police responded to another shooting — this time fatal — in the 14500 block of E. 51st Place. Around 4:30 a.m., police said two people had been shot and one had died. The other person was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.
Denver Police arrested 46-year-old Desmond Manning for investigation of second-degree murder in connection with that shooting.
An investigation revealed that when suspects in a burglary at a neighboring house fled and entered Manning’s yard, Manning fired multiple shots, striking an adult male and a juvenile male. Both gunshot victims were transported to the hospital where the juvenile male was pronounced deceased. That juvenile was identified on Monday as Alexis Mendez Perez, 16, according to the Denver Office of the Medical Examiner. The cause of death was gunshot wound and the manner of death was homicide, according to the medical examiner.
An adult male and two juvenile suspects were arrested for investigation of first-degree criminal trespass in this incident, police said.
It was not clear if any of the incidents were connected.
No other information was available on these four crimes as of 7 a.m. Thursday. Denver7 will update this story once we learn more.
