CLEAR CREEK COUNTY, Colo. – Authorities closed U.S. Highway 6 between State Highway 119 and I-70 in both directions around 7:30 a.m. Wednesday while they investigated a death. The highway reopened at 11 a.m. after the investigation was complete.

Colorado State Patrol was worked with the Clear Creek County Sheriff’s Office on the investigation at mile post 259. They said they found a man's body on the side of the road.

The Clear Creek County Sheriff's Office said it is unsure if the man died from an auto-pedestrian crash or other reasons. As thus, they are treating the case as a suspicious death. The sheriff's office said an autopsy will determine the man's cause of death.

The sheriff's office said it has a tentative identification on the man, but the coroner's office is likely to release his ID. A spokesperson for the sheriff's office says it is still early in the investigation.

The sheriff’s office is asking anyone with information about the man’s death who was driving along US 6 Tuesday night to call deputies at 303-679-2388.
