FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Colorado State University is addressing recent hate incidents on its campus.

CSU President Tony Frank sent a letter to his students talking about several incidents of hate and racism on the campus.

The letter talked about a paper noose hung up in one of the resident halls, and an anti-semitic message written in one of the halls as well.

Frank also wrote about some of CSU’s Middle Eastern students being harassed on a bus by someone who does not attend the school.

In the letter, Frank said that these messages of hate will not be tolerated and said the school is investigating them accordingly.

Denver7 spoke with some students who heard about these incidents, and asked them how students need to respond to these incidents.

“With love,” said Devin Cornelius, a freshman at CSU. “With love and compassion, and just understanding with other people. No matter what race or religion they are. Just tolerance.”

Frank wrote in the letter that while allowing hateful speech to occur is required by law, CSU can still publicly disdain it when it harms students and the school.
