CLEAR CREEK COUNTY, Colo. — Crews on Sunday afternoon were rescuing a woman from near Grey Wolf Mountain after her parachute failed to fully open during a base jump, officials said.

First responders received a call shortly before 9 a.m. about a report of an injured base jumper in the Mount Evans Wilderness.

The woman was base jumping from the "Black Wall" area when her parachute did not fully open, witnesses reported.

The Clear Creek Sheriff's Office, the Alpine Search and Rescue Team and two Flight for Life helicopters responded to the area and found the woman conscious and breathing.

Crews were still working to rescue the woman and estimated it could take several hours, due to the terrain.
