Fire crews from five different fire departments contained a brush fire burning in Louisville east of Monarch High School parking lot on Friday afternoon.
North Metro Fire tweeted at 12:30 p.m. that they had contained the 2- to 5-acre blaze at Via Varra near Northwest Parkway with the help of Rocky Mountain, Louisville, Lafayette and Boulder fire departments. No structures were damaged.

Officials said Westerly winds blowing 15 mph fanned the flames, which lasted for about 40 minutes.
"There was a danger of spreading. But we have enough resources working together with all of those agencies and we were able to stop it here at the road," said Lafayette Fire Battalion Chief Chad Rennich
Initially, authorities thought there were two brush fires but they determined residents in different locations had reported smoke from just one fire.

"It just goes to show you in Colorado, we can have fire even in winter," Rennich said.
The official cause of the fire was not immediately known.
