BOULDER COUNTY, Colo. — Colorado Parks and Wildlife is asking the public to keep an eye out for a male moose with rope tangled in his antlers in Boulder County.

Jason Clay with CPW said the department heard about the moose's predicament in early August and has been searching for the creature to help. It's been hanging out around the Brainard Lake Recreation Area, he said.

The moose was last spotted Thursday around 6:45 a.m. at Lake Isabelle in the Brainard Lake Recreation Area. A visitor, Dan Reynolds, captured the below video of the animal.

Since learning about the problem, CPW has sent crews into the area multiple times to try and locate the moose to no avail, Clay said.

He said they are trying to find the moose so they can tranquilize it and remove the rope from its antlers and neck.

It's not yet clear how the rope became tangled in the moose's antlers, but Clay said he doubts a person got close enough to do it since "it would likely be the last thing they ever did.”

If you see this moose, call CPW's nearest regional or area office from this list here, or call 303-239-4500 after hours.
