MONUMENT, Colo. — A southern section of I-25 will close on Wednesday and Thursday nights for pavement pacing and striping, which is part of the I-25 Gap project.
While the project's attention has mostly focused on the northern side of I-25, where construction started, moves are being made on the south end now too, according to the Colorado Department of Transportation. The works comes as preparation for construction on the seven-mile southern portion of the 18-mile project, which runs from south of Castle Rock to Monument. When it is finished, it will have widened the road from two lanes to three lanes in each direction. The new line will operate as an Express Lane.

Crews will close the southbound lanes of I-25 between Monument Hill and Colorado Highway 105 from 9 p.m. Wednesday until 5 a.m. Thursday. The road will reopen until 9 p.m. Thursday, and will stay closed again until 5 a.m. Friday. These schedules are dependent on the weather and can change, CDOT said.
Traffic in this area will tunnel into one lane around the closures, and will detour through the weigh stations on I-25, which are half a mile north of CO-105.
