Colorado is expanding its home modifications tax credit.

The tax credit started in 2018 and offered a tax credit of up to $5,000 to a taxpayer for home modifications due to an illness, disability or impairment. In 2019, the tax credit was expanded to cover a taxpayer's spouses and dependents.

"We're able to potentially serve up to 250 households to allow people to age in place, live in the home they have and make Colorado a better place," said Deputy Executive Director Natriece Bryant.

So far, 74 people have applied for tax credits and 59 people have been approved. Two people have already received the tax credit for modifications made last year.
