A Colorado woman is hoping Facebook will help her find the birth mother who used a phony name, phony address and phony references when she checked into a hospital to give birth in 1987.

Andrea Klug-Napier, of Glenwood Springs, was born at the Kootenai Medical Center in Idaho on April 30, 1987.

A newspaper headline about her birth said, "Baby's mother gives police the slip."

Police said the birth mother used the name Amy Dee Beach. She checked into the hospital at 6 a.m. on April 30, gave birth a half hour later and had disappeared by 6:30 p.m.

Klug-Napier told 7NEWS she's known her whole life that she's adopted.

"Now that I'm older, and possibly going to start a family someday soon, I thought I would go ahead and do it [look for her birth mom]," Klug-Napier said.

Klug-Napier says she not looking for a mother or father.

"I have both and they are more than amazing, loving, kind, and wonderful," Klug-Napier wrote on Facebook. "I am looking for my biological mother. I want to thank her for taking care of herself because I was a very healthy and happy baby. I want to also thank her for going to a hospital where I was surrounded by people that only wanted the best for me."

Klug-Napier grew up in Idaho, but her family moved to Colorado when she was 16. She's lived in Denver and Glenwood Springs.

Saturday night, she posted the message on Facebook looking for her birth mother. Since then, she's had more than 1,500 shares and numerous messages.

"I've had an amazing life with my parents, I just want to find some medical history. If there's more that I find out, that's great," Klug-Napier told 7NEWS.
