Colorado Springs Police clear 'person of interest' in kidnapping of 5-year-old girl

PD: Man in previously released photo not involved

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Police in Colorado Springs have identified a man wanted for questioning in the kidnapping of a 5-year-old girl and say he is not involved in the case.

Investigators released a photo of the man Thursday.

"Because of the coverage provided, the individual in this photo was identified," the Colorado Springs Police Department stated. "CSPD has contacted the male and he is not believed to be a person of interest in this investigation."

Now investigators are asking the public for tips.

The girl was playing outside her home on on June 12 in the 4300 Block of E. Pikes Peak Ave. when a man grabbed her and carried her away. He released her a short time later and the child was able to walk home, police said.

"The victim sustained minor injuries during the attempted abduction," police said.
