Colorado ranked in top 10 for school threats, violence

A reportfrom the Educators School Safety Network finds that threats of school violence, and violent incidents surged in the 2017-2018 school year.

The report found Colorado had at least 59 threats and 9 violent incidents in 2017-2018, pushing the state into the top 10 for states with concerns about school violence. The Educator's School Safety Network compiled numbers from media and other reports.

Key Findings from the Educator's School Safety Network:

3,375 threats recorded in the 2017-2018 school year.

279 incidents of violence, an increase of 113% from the previous school year.

35 school shootings nationwide.

38 school violence plots thwarted.
