DENVER – Coloradans are proud to be Americans.
At least, that’s according to WalletHub, which ranked Colorado in fifth place on its list of the most “patriotic” states in the country.
What makes a state more patriotic than others? WalletHub looked at a number of factors that it categorized as either military engagement or civic engagement. Those factors included things like the number of active duty military personnel and veterans, voter turnout rates and volunteer rates.
Those characteristics put Colorado near the top of the list, but Virginia gets to claim the title of most patriotic state, followed by Alaska, Wyoming and South Carolina. Here are WalletHub’s top 10:
1. Virginia
2. Alaska
3. Wyoming
4. South Carolina
5. Colorado
6. Washington
7. Hawaii
8. Idaho
9. Georgia
10. North Carolina
