Colorado among the most deadly states for running red lights

DENVER – Colorado is the 7th most dangerous state in the country for red-light running fatalities, according to a report from The National Coalition for Safer Roads.

Texas, California, Florida, Arizona, North Carolina and New York ranked higher than Colorado. Indiana Michigan and Georgia rounded out the bottom of the list of the 10 Most Dangerous States.

According to data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, between 2005-2015, an estimated 8,347 people were killed in 7,528 crashes related to red-light running. Local data was not available.

Red-light running is the leading cause of urban crashes, according to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.
