One of Colorado’s own Olympians is getting hitched.
Olympic swimmer Missy Franklin, who attended Regis Jesuit High School in Aurora, made the announcement on her Instagram page.
The five-time gold medalist shared a picture of her and her new fiancé, fellow swimmer Hayes Johnson, with the caption, “Thank you for making this the easiest answer to any question I’ve ever been asked. Yes. Yes. Yes. A million times over.”
In 2013, Franklin claimed her sixth gold medal for swimming at the World Championships in Barcelona. She turned pro in 2015 and left college swimming behind, but not before winning three individual events and helping her California team win the NCAA championship in March of that year. Since then, she’s gone on to win five Olympic gold medals — four in 2012 in London and one in Rio in 2016.
Thank you for making this the easiest answer to any question I’ve ever been asked. Yes. Yes. Yes. A million times over. I will never be able to thank you enough. For making last night the best of my life. For being the most thoughtful and loving man I’ve ever known. For being my best friend, my soulmate, my safe haven, and now my FIANCÉ!💍 I’m about to get my Johnson on!!! I cannot wait to see what our forever has in store for us. I. Love. You.💖 📸: @mattbish1234
