DENVER – Chipotle is planning to pack up and move its headquarters a few blocks to a new downtown Denver location next year.

The company will take over five floors of the 40-story skyscraper known as 1144 Fifteenth, located on 15th Street between Arapahoe and Lawrence streets. The building is currently under construction but should be completed early next year.

Chipotle has signed a 15-year lease for about 126,000 square feet of office space with the option of adding additional space in the future.

Chipotle’s current headquarters is split between two buildings – at 1401 Wynkoop and 1515 Wynkoop – just five blocks from the new location. The company says the move will allow all of its 450 employees to work under the same roof.

“Chipotle first started in Denver almost 25 years ago as a single restaurant on Evans Avenue across from the University of Denver. Today, we have more than 2,350 restaurants, and more than 450 people who work out of our main office,” said Chipotle founder, chairman and CEO Steve Ells. “Our roots are here, and this contemporary, collaborative and modern space will position us to look ahead to the next 25 years.”

The company will move into its new space in late 2018.
