Child injured in hit-and-run crash in Aurora Thursday, police searching for suspect

AURORA, Colo. — Police in Aurora are searching for the suspect driver who struck a child and fled from the scene Thursday evening.

At 6:22 p.m. Thursday, the Aurora Police Department said it was investigating a hit-and-run crash involving a child pedestrian near Havana Street and E. 1st Avenue. The driver fled from the scene. The child was stable but had serious injuries, police said.

The suspect vehicle was described as a dark-colored or black sedan. The driver fled northbound on Havana.

The northbound lanes of Havana Street were closed at E. 1st Avenue until 7 p.m.
