GILPIN COUNTY, Colo. -- Casinos in Central City and Black Hawk welcomed guests for the first time in more than three months.
"They’re doing everything — checking temperatures, everybody is wearing a mask. So, I feel real safe, no problem," said Sue McCoi, a Lakewood resident who came up to celebrate the opening day.
At Monarch Casino Black Hawk, visitors will notice some changes before they even walk in the door. Staff members are taking everyone's temperature at the entrance and masks are required inside.
Every other slot machine is turned off in order to promote social distancing and table games remain off limits. The casino has also implemented additional cleaning measures. Slot machines are sanitized after every use and a piece of paper inserted in the card slot will indicate if a machine has been cleaned.
"I would just say that, think about when you’re coming," said Erica Ferris, Director of Marketing for Monarch Casino. "You may want to chose to visit during our mid-week times as we are generally a little less busy then. You’ll be able to get in and get on the machine you’re looking to play."
