ARAPAHOE COUNTY, Colo. — A Cherry Creek School District bus driver pleaded guilty to one count of sexual exploitation of a child and was sentenced to 90 days in jail.

Christopher Doughty, 34, was formally charged in May 2019 with internet luring of a child, which was dropped. He pleaded guilty to sexual exploitation of child at a disposition hearing on Feb. 21, according to court documents.

He was accused of trying to meet up with what he thought was a 14-year-old girl for sex, according to an affidavit. The "teen" was actually an undercover officer with Colorado Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. Doughty was taken into custody at a Starbucks on E. Mississippi Avenue. At the time, he told officers that he thought he was a sex addict, according to the affidavit.

On Feb. 21, he was sentenced to 90 days in jail, plus eight years in a sex offender intensive supervision program. He must also register as a sex offender.

In addition, he must pay multiple fees, including, but not limited to:

  • Sex offender surcharge: $2,000
  • Special advocate surcharge: $1,300
  • Victim compensation fund: $163
  • Probation supervised fee: $4,800

He had been employed with the school district since August 2017, according to a letter to parents from the school district.
