DENVER — Two armed burglars have been caught on tape terrorizing a Denver neighborhood. Neighbors say the suspects have broken into at least three homes through doggie doors.

The crimes have happened in broad daylight in Denver's Cole neighborhood. In one case, a woman inside a home scared them away.

Monica Mitchell was at work when her Ring video alarm went off Monday. She watched on her phone as two hooded bandits crept through her backyard.

The prowlers appear to be in their teens, and one of them had what looked like a gun.

"I don't know if they have any intention of harming me or anybody,” Mitchell said. “It's terrifying.”

A neighbor had already called police when Mitchell's alarm went off. Video shows the teens race from the scene and climb the fence minutes before police arrive at the home.

"They split up in the house,” she said, describing the action on the video. “One went upstairs; one went downstairs. They got spooked by the alarm and went out the backdoor.”

Mitchell said the suspects gathered a pile of items but didn't take anything after being scared away. She said she's not the only doggie door victim on her block.

"[There has been] three incidents in the past week of home invasions through doggie doors,” Mitchell said.

A neighbor saw two men with the same hoodies and shoes entered a home a few doors away. Not knowing the owner was home, they broke through the doggie door and locked the dog outside.

She woke up to the men standing in her home. They took off when they saw her.

“She heard them, and they ended up dropping everything they were going to steal,” Mitchell said.

Denver police said they don't have any suspect information.

Mitchell said she won't feel safe until these brazen bandits are brought to justice.

"They're armed, coming in armed,” she said. “That's terrifying. I hope we find them."

Denver police said the suspects are still on the loose. They're counting on the public to remain vigilant and send them any information.
