DENVER — Colorado fire departments and law enforcement agencies are sharing their condolences after a Summit County firefighter died while battling a fire at a condominium in Copper Mountain early Saturday morning.
Ken Jones, 46, fell from a five-story rooftop at the Bridge End condo building at 860 Copper Road about 2 a.m. The 20-year veteran of the Summit County Fire Department had climbed to the roof to find access to the fire.
News of the fallen firefighter prompted several agencies from Colorado to tweet messages of support and condolence to Jones’ family and the Summit County Fire Department.
Poudre Fire Chief Tom DeMint wrote:
“Our thoughts and prayers go out to Summit Fire and EMS as they grieve the loss of one who died in the line of duty who fell from a five-story condo while conducting roof operations. Please keep Summit Fire and the family in your thoughts and prayers.”
The Eagle County Sheriff’s Office wrote:
