GARFIELD COUNTY, Colo. – The 8-year-old boy killed in a hiking accident at Hanging Lake was identified Wednesday.

Garfield County Coroner Robert Glassmire says Noah Ragon died during a hike with his mother Monday morning. The boy and his family are from Highlands Ranch.

Glassmire said Noah had reached the area of Spouting Rock, near the waterfall, and was in eyesight of his mother when the incident occurred.

Investigators are still determining if he slipped, was struck by a falling rock, or something else.

The incident occurred in a popular viewing spot where visitors often stand to take photos or feel the cooling effects of the mist created by the waterfall.

An autopsy was performed and Noah’s cause of death is a blunt force injury of the head and his manner of death is an accident.

A Gofundme pagein support of the the family has been created. The funds generated will be going to help the family with medical and funeral expenses as well as ongoing grief counseling, the page reads.
