BOULDER, Colo. (AP) — The owners of a downtown Boulder property have surrendered their tavern liquor license following the death of a customer.
Boulder's Licensing Manager Mishawn Cook confirmed that the license was formally revoked on Friday as part of a plea deal. The Daily Camera reports it was one of 16 tavern liquor licenses in the city.
The license allows establishments to serve hard alcohol, beer and wine without requiring that food items make up at least 25 percent of their sales.
Police say a University of Colorado student left the now-shuttered Pop-Up Bar drunk and was found dead in Boulder Creek last February. A toxicology report showed Khalid Rafee of Saudi Arabia had a blood-alcohol level of 0.129 percent.
A city application says the space will be converted into a food hall restaurant.
