BOULDER, Colo. — The Boulder Police Department (BPD) is looking for a man who threatened victims with a machete in two separate incidents in the last two days.

The first victim walked outside of his residence in the 1500 block of Spruce Street around 9:45 p.m. on Feb. 22 to find a man in his bushes. The man pulled the machete out of his backpack, threatened the victim and walked away, according to BPD.

In the second incident, the victims found a man burglarizing their house in the 2100 block of Grove Circle around 4:50 p.m. Feb. 23. The man started to pull the machete out of his backpack, threatened the victims and took off on a bicycle.

Police said in both incidents, the man was described as a white male in his 30s, 5-foot-10 to 5-foot-11, about 160 pounds, a balding buzz cut, a black beard around one inch long. He smelled like smoke and was last seen wearing a black hat, a black face mask, black ski coat, dark colored pants and a black backpack.

BPD says no one should approach the man if they see him. Anyone who has seen the man or has any information is asked to call Boulder Dispatch at 303-441-3333.
