Boulder Police arrest man accused of threatening people with a machete

BOULDER, Colo. — The Boulder Police Department says a man who was wanted for allegedly threatening people with a machete is in custody.

Police arrested John Paul Gadreau, 31, in the 2300 block of Spruce Street after one of the victim's spotted him riding her stolen bike and called police.

Gadreau is accused of threatening people with a machete in two separate incidents earlier this week. One victim reported Gadreau was in his bushes around 9:45 p.m. Monday in the 1500 block of Spruce Street when he pulled the machete out of his backpack and threatened the victim before walking away.

The victims in the second incident reported Gadreau was burglarizing their house in the 2100 block of Grove Circle around 4:50 p.m. Tuesday. He allegedly threatened them with a machete before taking off on the bike.

Gadreau will be charged with aggravated robbery, first degree burglary, felony menacing, second degree burglary and felony criminal mischief, according to the Boulder Police Department.
