PARKER, Colo. — Police are tracking a bear that’s on the prowl in a Parker neighborhood Thursday afternoon.

Parker police tweeted out photos and video showing the black bear exploring the Anthology neighborhood.

Around noon, the bear was seen roaming near Legacy Point Elementary School. Police contacted the Douglas County School District and escorted students from a neighborhood park safely back to the school.

About 20 minutes later, the bear peeks over a fence in the Stroh Ranch subdivision as police snap a photo from several feet away.

Police also tweeted a video showing the bear jump a fence as it presumably tries to escape the stalking officers.

Police believe the bear was moving along the Cherry Creek Trail as it made its way into people’s yards and driveways.

Colorado Parks and Wildlife stated that since the animal hadn’t exhibited threatening behavior there was no need for them to respond.

If you spot the bear, please call the Parker Police Department at 303-841-9800.
